The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

The coat of arms of Vransko is used since 1868 and is canting the name of the town developed from the name of the crow bird: Argent a crow stantant on top of a couped juniper tree issuant from base all proper and is set within an "arabesque" border. The legend says that the region was once a lake, that was dried up, and that on the dried area crows gathered. The community has not adopted a flag but uses a simple white vertical flag with the coat of arms set near the top. As table flags are also used green flags that gradually changes it background colour from light green in the top to dark green in the base, with an orle of gray and the coat of arms near the bottom above a yellow inscription VRANSKO with black shadow-drop.

The community of Vrhnika uses her traditional coat of arms that probably originates from the coat of arms of Illyria, i.e. Illyrian Provinces of Napoleonic era. The modern graphical layout adds the wavy lines similar to those on the coat of arms of the Republic of Slovenia. Except this main shape of the coat of arms ("for print on textile") the decision prescribes two other acceptable designs, "for print on paper" (semicircular shield without the white border along top edge) and "for licence plates" (standard shape for licence plates, also without the white border on top), and the 2002 decisions add the fourth version "the electronic format". The coat of arms is described in statutes as: Jason's sailboat Argo on the wavy of Ljubljanica river. The flag is for vertical hoisting, blue with clay coloured fly and the coat of arms in the upper part in clay coloured rectangle.

It is said that the colour in the coat of arms and the flag of Zagorje represent the vegetation (green), the Sava river (blue), coal mines (black) and bright future (white). The flag is so called banner of arms, i.e. it consist of the same elements as the coat of arms adapted for the rectangular shape. The curved lines in the current coat of arms are inspired by the coat of arms of Gallenberg family who ruled the region in 13th century: gules a pile inverted embowed argent.

The coat of arms adopted in second part of 20th century pictures the symbols of people's liberation struggle in the World War II (flames), the symbols of socialist revolution (star), industry (cog-wheel) and mining (hammers). The basic colour patter has provided the inspiration of the coat of arms and flag adopted in 1990's, apparently.

The coat of arms of Žalec is a golden stylized hop fruit with a leaf in a green shield with blue chief. The emblem is used already for considerable time before it was finally adopted as the coat of arms and superseded the historical coat of arms of the town of Žalec in use by the community. The flag is green with the coat of arms toward top.
In 1999 the flag was prescribed to have the coat of arms in the upper right corner, but this was changed to current design already in 2000, and probably no such flag was ever made.

The coat of arms is is known at least from 14th century.
