The horizontal tricolour of blue over yellow over green with the Coalition logo in the middle of the yellow stripe. The logo consists of the line inscription of the name of the party and a red dot above the letter i in the second word. The basic design without the logo was used as the flag since 1996 when the Coalition as formed, and even if the logo was adopted at the same time, it appeared on the flags only around 2000. The flag without logo was often erroneously reported as the proposal for the flag of Vojvodina, but the coalition used the vertically arranged colours as their proposal for the region flag. Also around 2000 a flag in ratio 2:3 of the same design as the current flag, but with all three coloured fields being much paler was shortly used, but was soon replaced with the current flag.

The leading (and only) party of the socialist Montenegro within Yugoslavia was member of Yugoslav League of Communists, and the pattern of the flag followed - the only difference being the small initials below the star.
