The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |
Most of these flags are still used currently in Serbia and Montenegro.

The flag of the Chetnik movement is used since the end of 19th century, especially in the times of crisis when the movement was strongest, during World War, World War II and in 1990's. Paramilitary units in aggression of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina often used such flag and many variations. Basic design is black with white skull and bones and inscribed above and bellow "Za kralja i otadžbinu" (For the King and Fatherland) and "Sloboda ili smrt" (Liberty or Death).

The horizontal tricolour of blue over yellow over green with the Coalition logo in the middle of the yellow stripe. The logo consists of the line inscription of the name of the party and a red dot above the letter i in the second word. The basic design without the logo was used as the flag since 1996 when the Coalition as formed, and even if the logo was adopted at the same time, it appeared on the flags only around 2000. The flag without logo was often erroneously reported as the proposal for the flag of Vojvodina, but the coalition used the vertically arranged colours as their proposal for the region flag. Also around 2000 a flag in ratio 2:3 of the same design as the current flag, but with all three coloured fields being much paler was shortly used, but was soon replaced with the current flag.
The flag used by the SKJ, in variations in several languages, is shown in historical pages.

The leading (and only) party of the socialist Montenegro within Yugoslavia was member of Yugoslav League of Communists, and the pattern of the flag followed - the only difference being the small initials below the star. In theory the flag with inscriptions in any language of the peoples living in Montenegro could be used, though in practice it was mostly only the Serbian Cyrillic inscription.
