In accordance with the law and practice as was also in the previous states, the national minorities in Serbia are not allowed to use flags that are the same as the flags of other states, i.e. they have to differ in details. In Serbia the design of the arms and flags to the national minorities is approved by the Council for National Minorities of Serbia. By 2010, it has approved symbols of Bosniak, Bunyevats, Bulgarian, Croatian, Hungarian, Macedonian, German, Romanian, Russyn, Slovakian , Ukrainian and Walachian national minorities.

Description of arms: Znak slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko je odvodený od štátneho znaku Slovenskej republiky. Tvoria ho červený ranogotický štít so zlatým lemom a dvojitý strieborný kríž, vztýčený na strednom vyvýšenom vŕšku modrého trojvršia. (Symboly, 2009.)
Description of flag: Vlajka slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko je odvedená od štátnej vlajky Slovenskej republiky. Skladá sa z troch pozdĺžnych pruhov - bieleho, modrého a červeného, rovnakej šírky, usporiadaných pod sebou. Na prednej polovici listu štátnej vlajky je umiestnený znak slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko. Znak na vlajke je rovnako vzdialený od horného, predného a spodného okraja vlajky a jeho výška sa rovná polovici výšky vlajky. Pomer strán vlajky slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko je 2:3. Zástava slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko je utvorená podľa vlajky slovenskej národnostnej menšiny; je vždy pevne spojená so žrďou alebo priečnym rahnom. Vzájomný pomer šírky a dĺžky zástavy sa ustanovuje tak, že dĺžka zástavy nepresahuje trojnásobok jej šírky. Na zástave slovenskej národnostnej menšiny sa znak slovenskej národnostnej menšiny v Republike Srbsko nachádza vo zvislej polohe. (Symboly, 2009.)

The emblem of the Slovak national community in Serbia is the same as the Slovakian state arms encircled with a golden outline. The flag is the same as the Slovak national flag with the golden outlined coat of arms, i.e. the community emblem at the hoist. The vertical flag as the arms properly rotated, and may be longer, up to 1:3.
