The coat of arms is azure the Kotromanić dynasty crown or above ten six-pointed stars argent in a ring. The flag is tricolour of green, white and red, the white stripe being twice the width of any of the other two, with the coat of arms in it, just touching the other two stripes.

The coat of arms adopted in 1997 is a golden bordered blue triangular shield with a golden crown of fleurs-de-lis above an upwards pointing silver crescent and between them four silver fimbriated red squares arranged as a chessboard. The crown is such as used by the medieval Bosnian kings (the Kotromanić's). The 1997 flag is green-white-red horizontal tricolour of unequally wide stripes as 3:2:1. The coat of arms is set in is middle so that it enters into one third of the green field and into one fourth of the red field.
