The FAME is site devoted to systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author support or approve the ideas they may stand for.

People's Republic adopted the coat of arms in the soviet style in 1949 and it was set in the middle of the national tricolour. The coat of arms constist of a blue field in which are crossed a hammer and corn ear surrounded with corn wreaths bond in base with tricolour ribbom and in top a red five-pointed star radiating yellow ray in the blue field.

In the 1956 uprising the people used a flag from which the communist coat of arms was cut out, so the flag had a hole in the middle. Today this flag is used by the Association of Political Prisoners of Hungary.
