The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

(In fact height of the coat of arms is 22.5% of the flag length for bigger flags and 27.5% for the smaller.)

The coat of arms is tierced in chevron fimbrated with white stones topped with triangular diamond, chief dexter gules, chief sinister vert base azure a dove rising argent under an arc of five mullets or. The flag is blue with two white vertical stripes, forming a blue square field in the middle containing the dove and stars from the coat of arms. The stripes divide the flag length, as usual in this pattern of Slovenian communal flags, in 3+3+8+3+3.
St. Cosimo (Kuzma), the patron of medical arts, is the patron and namesake of the town and community. The colours of the coat of arms represent three nations, Austrians (red), Hungarians (green) and Slovenians (blue), as the common border-point is on north borders of the community. The dove stands for peace, and five stars for five villages in the community.
The community was formed in 1995 seceding from the community of Murska Sobota. In 1998 part of the community seceded forming a new community of Grad.

The coat of arms of Lenart is Argent, between two Mounts Vert a Church with a Tower, topped and roofed Gules. The flag is green long vertically hoisted with the coat of arms in the middle. The coat of arms is basically adopted in 1989, but until 1997 it seems that several variants were used, while the flag, except the fact that it is green, was not defined in more details.
The current community of Cerkvenjak, while it still was a local community (krajevna skupnost, subdivision of a community) within the community of Lenart, adopted a coat of arms and a flag. Unfortunately, the Decision on the coat of arms and the flag does not have their description.

The coat of arms was adopted in 1989 when the settlement was upgraded to a city. It pictures the church of St. Leonard after whom the city was named, on a green hills with the date of the city establishment and its name in the chief. In use it was seen in several variations, with or without the inscribed date and with or without the red chief with the name or both. The flag was green with the coat of arms, and even if not further details were established it can be safely assume that it was made in ratio 1:2.
These symbols are now used by the community subdivision (krajevna skupnost) of the same name. The other three subdivisions in the community also adopted coats of arms and flags.

The coat of arms of Lendava is late-gothic shield Azure, on a mount Vert a Fort Argent topped with triangular flag Or, and in base three bars (creeks) Argent. The flag is vertical divided in green-white-blue, with the coat of arms in the middle and two white stripes in the blue field. The legislation as issued in official gazette does not describe the lowest (blue) filed, probably due omission. The fort from the coat of arms is the old city of Lendava. Since there is a considerable Hungarian community living in Lendava, the municipal flag is hoisted together with Slovenian and Hungarian flags. Magyar name of the community is Lendva.

The community of Lendava previously used as its coat of arms a circular bas-relief medal picturing the old city of Lendava and oil derricks around a printing press.

The new coat of arms of Litija is only an artistic improvement on the previous one: azure an ancient jar (vaška situla) or over which flows a winding river Sava in a bend sinister on which is a man in rafting boat argent. The flag is vertical triband of blue-white-blue with the attributes from the coat of arms in the middle. The vertical variation has the attributes rotated accordingly.
| No flag. | ![]() |
Litija uses since mid-20th century a coat of arms that pictures in a blue field a green vase and a raftsman pushing a white raft over it. The flag is not reported, even if the Statutes allowed the adoption of one.
| No flag. | ![]() |
The "coat of arms" adopted by Litija is the extreme example of dismissal with the heralidc traditions that was preferred at the time. The emblem that could hardly be called a coat of arms, pictures the Sava river bend and emblems of the socialist revolution.

The coat of arms of Ljubljana is Gules on triple mount Vert a dragon of the same standing on a tower Argent encircled within walls of the same. The flag is white over green bicolour with the coat of arms outlined in golden in the middle. The current design was adopted in early 1990's, but when formalized some changes in artistic rendition of the coat of arms were introduced in 1996, reverted to the original design in 1998 but this was further simplified in 2009. The dragon is ornament found on coats of arms fo Ljubljana (but not part of it) since middle age, but was especially popularized after the building of the Dragon Bridge in 1901. This might be origin of the white-green colours of the flag, as well as the origin of the nick name for the inhabitants zmajčki meaning 'small dragons'. The dragon is connected with Ljubljana and surrounding marshes though the Ancient Greek legend of Jason and his companions, when stoling the Golden Fleece, sailing into Danube and further towards Ljubljana, where they had to fight this monster.

Even thugh it is said that the city approved Valt Jurečič's design in early 1990's, the design published in the official gazette in 1996 was some other, and this was formally official until 1998. This decision do not mention the vertical flag.

The coat of arms design adopted in 1979 (but used already in the same artistic stylization at least in 1970 on Yugoslav post stamps) followed the traditional elements of the coat of arms of Ljubljana. The flag of white and green was possibly introduced officially for the first time. The white-green colours are connected with Ljubljana since late 19th century, but the origin of these colours is unknown. The coat of arms of Ljubljana, in form of a seal representing the old city with a tower is in use since 13th century. In latter representation it was ornamented with a dragon-like figure above the shield, and since 17th century the dragon became integral part of the arms.
Since mid 1960's to 1995 Ljubljana was organized into five communities, together forming a civic assembly of communities (special supra-communal territorial unit). Legally, each community could have adopted coat of arms and flag, but they have not done so.
