The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

The cities and communities in the Republic of Croatia may establish local committes as form of direct decision-making of citizens in local affairs. A local committee is estabished for a single settlement, for several interconnected smaller settlements or for a part of a larger settlement, i.e. a city, which makes a separate delimited unit (part of a settlement) in regard to the other parts. City quarters or municipal districts may be established in the cities as special form of local self-governemnt. The local committees, the city quarters and the municipal districts are legal persons. The Law does not provide for the adoption of coats of arms or flags for these forms of seolf-governmnet, but it does not forbid it either. Some local committees, city quarters and municipal districts have adopted or use their symbols. These symbols are not regulated by the law or the regulations and are not subject to the procedure of approval by the central state government bodies.

The coat of arms of Bast depicts the silhouette of Biokovo mountain range, sheep, traditional stone house, church of St. Roch of the 15th century, an olive twig and a medieval gravestone slabs "stečak" with swords. The place name Bast is inscribed in the chief with the ancient Roman name Biston and the year 610 as well as the year 1434 when the current name was first recorded. The flag is pale blue with the coat of arms set next to the hoist.

The coat of arms of Brezje is quartered, chquey gules and argent, azure a linden leaf vert downwards in bend sinistre, azure a sun or and gules a bronze plaque depciting St. George killing the dragon proper. On a gold ribbon below lined red inscribed green Brezje. The chuequy field symbolized Croatia, the St. George plaque the community Sveti Juraj na Bregu, the linden (Cro. breza) leaf cants the name of the village and the sun is said to be the symbol of life.

The coat of arms of Budrovec is the same as the coat of arms garnated (confirmed) to Johannes Budor de Budrocz (Ivan Budor iz Budrovca) by King Mathias II in Vienna on 1 December 1610. The coat of arms is: per pall azure an arm embowed armoured issuant a triple mount vert holding a sword piercing a head pierced fesswise with an arrow and gules two angels guardant clead white wings and hair or standing on a base vert holding a crown or with a feather sable issuant. Topped with two crowned helmets, dexter a feather sable issuant, mantle sable-argent, and sinister arm embowed armoured issuant a triple mount vert holding a sword piercing a head pierced fesswise with an arrow, mantle or-gules. The original armorial patent is kept in the HAZU Archives in Zagreb.
The ceremonial flag is a light blue gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails with golden fringe, the coat of arms in the centre, in the chief inscribed "Budrovac", to dexter year "1610", to sinister "2014", and in the base a vine tree branches with a bunch of grapes.

The coat of arms of Ičići is azure a sea-goat argent holding a trident or. A sea-goat is a heraldic beast composed of a billy goat front and a fish tail. It reprsents the two traditional industries of the place - the goat hearding and fishing. It also cants the name of Kozji breg, a village outside Ičići. The trident reinforces the link with the sea. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms bordered yellow in its centre. The ceremonial flag is a light blue gonfalon ending triangularly with a golden fringe, the coat of arms in its centre. Above it it is inscribed in two lines the name Ičići in Latin and Glagolitic script, and below there are branches of olive and vine, the traditional products of the region.

The coat of arms used by Igrane is or a tower argent and in the chief in a ribbon azure a white inscription 1466, the shield topped with two olive branches in saltire. The design shows the Zale's tower, erected during the Cretan War (War of Candia, 1645-69) and named after the local military leader against Ottomans, Zale Antičić. The olive production is traditional and still makes an important industry in Igrane, although tourism is now the primary source of income. The year 1466 is the date when Igrane is mentioned first in the documents.

The coat of arms of Jablanovec is per bend sinistre azure an arm issuant from sinister garmented gules holding a cross slanted argent throughout and argent an apple gules leaved vert. It is said that the hand with the cross represent St. John the Baptist, the patron of the place, while the apple is said to be its main symbol. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in the centre. The symbols were adopted on the occasion of 800 anniversary of the first mention of the place and publicly presented on St. John's Feast on 24 June 2009.

The coat of arms of Jalkovec is tierced per fess gules, argent and azure an ineustcheon chequy gules and argent and overall a stone bridge proper. Supposters two froges vert on a ribbon or inscribed sable Jalkovec. The design shows the old Roman stone bridge in the settlement. The frogs that were left in the area after a big flood in 1807 gave raise to the nickname for the inhabitants. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in its centre.

The coat of arms of Jezera depicts in a shield celeste over a base engrailed azure six sunrays issuant from a well head argent and in the chief a seagull volant. The shield is outlined red, in the base on a red edged blue ribbon inscribed the place name or, in the dexter a birch branch and in the sinister a pomegranate branch both proper. The flag is light blue with the shield of the arms outlined white in which the place name is inscribed argent in the base.

The coat of arms of Mičevec is vert a bar wavy argent between a mill-wheel and a stone cricular cross in chief and a plant in base all or. The circular cross is the shape of St. Benedict of Nursia medal, the oldest Christian sacramental medal referring to the patron of the village and parish church. The coat of arms is set in a ceremonial flag in shape of a yellow gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails with fringe, with the name in an arch above and golden onion plant ornaments in the tails.

The coat of arms of Piškorevci depicts a fish jumping from a pond above a chequy field, the sixpointed star of Mars, the spire of the church of Holy Transfiguration in Piškorevci and the running marften of Slavonia. The fish is a weatherfish or weather loach (Croatian: piškor, Lat: Misgurnus fossilis L.) canting the place name.

The coat of arms of Severin na Kupi is per fess, chief per pale, chequy gules and argent, or a bunch of grapes with two leaves vert and azure two lions ranpant reguardant or holding a loaf of bread. As supposrters two bucnhes of grapes azure on branches vert, a ribbon or lined gules in chief inscribed Mjesni odbor and a such a ribbon in base inscribed Severin na Kupi. The flag is vertical green with the shield from the coat of arms surrounded with the same inscriptions golden without the ribbons and grapes. The other flag (ceremonial?) is again vertical, but with the full coat of arms.

The coat of arms of the Valpovo Local Committee is a variation of the historical coat of arms of Valpovo, depicting the round tower issuing from a bridge over two wavy lines all white and inscribed along the chielf "Mjesni odbor Valpovo".

The historical coat of arms of Veprinac (in Italian: Apriano) is azure a tower argent. A vertical gonfalon horizontally divided into red and purplish blue with the white tower in the centre is hoisted on the city walls above the entrance. It is unclear whether it is indeed the local community emblem or simply a tourist ornament.

The coat of arms of Vrana is quartered, argent a cross formy gules, gules a crown of King Zvonimir or, azure a tiara proper and sable a cross formy argent. On a helm afrontee a torse gules and argent a hand issuant holding a sword erect between a pair of wings sable. Mantle gules and argent. Suporters St. Michael armoured holding an inflamed sword and scales and St. Cathrine holding a palm branch vert standing infront of a lion couchant all over a ribbon inscribed "Sv. Mihovil - Vrana - Sv. Nediljica". The flag is white with the coat of arms in the centre. The ceremonial flag is a white gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails with golden fringe and the coat of arms in the centre.
The coat of arms symbolize the history of the place - established as a benedictine monastery of St. George, it was presented to Pope by King Zvonimir in 1076. The monastery was afterwards given to Templars and then to knights of St. John. The monastery kept the royal insignia used for the coronations of Croatian and Croatian-Hungarian rulers in Biograd.

The flag of Žabnik is tricolour of red over white over blue with a large disk quartered into red and white with a green capital letter Ž between a stork and frog over a ribbon inscribed Žabnik. A frog (Cro. žaba) cants the name of the village.
