[The FAME - Flag and Arms of the Modern Era]

The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for.

Source: Statut SKJ

The Statute of SKJ orders that the name under the star and the motto "should be written in national languages". There were at least 6 versions of this flag, all official, differing in the text of the abbreviation of the party name and the text in the motto "Workers of all the world, unite!". In 'Serbo-Croatian' 2 versions, in Latin (1) and in Cyrillic (2) script with "SKJ" and "PROLETERI SVIH ZEMALJA, UJEDINITE SE!". In Slovenian (3) "ZKJ" and "PROLETARCI VSEH DEŽEL, ZDRUŽITE SE!". In Macedonian in Cyrillic script (4) "SKJ" and "PROLETERI VO SITE ZEMJI, VOEDINETESE!". In Albanian (5) "LKJ" and "PROLETERË TË TË GJITHA VENDEVE, BASHKOHUNI!". In Hungarian (6) "JKSZ" and "VILÁG PROLETÁRJAI EGYESÜLJETEK!". In Italian (7) "ACI" (?) and "PROLETARII DI TUTTI I PAESI, UNITEVI!". Possible there were other versions, too. Although the Statute orders that the motto should be above the star, in practice it was often beside it. The text should be properly readable from both sides of the flag.
Union of Communists was formed in 1952 from former Communist Party (KPJ), changing in the flag only the abbreviation under the star.
