The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

The organization on local level was in Croatia traditionally since middle-ages made through counties, called in Latin (that was official language in Croatia until almost the end of 19th century) Comitatus, (Croatian županija, German Komitat, Hungarian megye). In 18th century the modern organization of those began. The structure was being changed with time occasionally, with a greater restructuring in 1886 with the disbanding of the Military Border. When the Monarchy was dualized in 1848, Dalmatia in Austrian part was separated from the rest of the country in Hungarian part, and county structure was never established there.
